Social Audit of Water and Sanitation Schemes in Mardan District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province (Pakistan)

Project Objectives are:

  • Project aims to improve the right to safe drinking water and sanitation through social audit of selected development schemes of public health engineering department related to provision of clean drinking water and sanitation, and by enabling local communities to hold their elected representatives and public service providers accountable in Mardan District of KP.
A brief summary of outputs:
  • Local communities will be enabled to hold their elected representatives and service providers accountable.
  • Community is facilitated ensure their water and sanitation rights by strengthening their voices for transparent and accountable water and sanitation service delivery, based on finding of social audit.
  • Policy alternatives proposed through media campaign and launching of social audit report at provincial level.
  • In long term, the community will be equipped with tools and techniques of social audit, which can also be applied on other public utilities and services, which will help strengthen people voices in provision of public services.
